women for women international warwick
The society is a student chapter that represents the wonderful Women for Women International (WfWI) charity foundation at Warwick!
Their twin aims are to fundraise and campaign.
They strive to raise awareness about the real situations faced by conflict-ridden communities across the world where women are implicated so that those interested in and supportive of our cause can try their best to do something about it!
Their fundraising efforts go towards a sponsorship-based scheme. This programme sees female survivors of war enrolling on WfWI’s year-long education, life skills, rights and business training courses based in the countries WfWI focuses on - Afghanistan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan. The curriculum truly educates and supports these women; and testimonies show that it has been an important step in helping individuals, and their whole communities, rebuild their lives.
As a new society, they are very hands on and collaborative, so there is lots of opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the running of a charity society!
Warwick volunteers
Warwick Volunteers is a society that offers students the chance to make a positive difference in the local community. From working in local schools to helping with conservation projects or befriending adults with learning disabilities, there’s a wide range of volunteering projects to get involved with.
Warwick Volunteers helps students to find a project that matches their interests – and if there isn’t, they can create and manage their own volunteering project through the Create a Project Competition.
They promote volunteering as an enjoyable way to develop new skills, acquire vital work experience and increase your overall employability, whatever career path students want to pursue. Students also benefit through making new friends, getting involved in the community around campus and to increase your wellbeing. Warwick Volunteers Exec also organises many socials throughout the year to bring all the student volunteers together.
